This is a get-to-know-me post where I debut myself on the website, share about my life, and answer questions about the brand.

Who is Tori?

I am a passionate wellness enthusiast in my early twenties. I like all things self-care, personal development, and beauty. On a daily, I go to University where I am pursuing a degree in Business and IT. Careerwise, I am inclined to Design, Marketing, and Strategy.

I am a creative person who enjoys creating and viewing other people’s creative works. I love blogging, designing, and occasionally writing poems. In addition, I love participating in creative photoshoots. For me, an ideal career is one where I get to successfully produce creative work or give my creative input.

Just like everybody else, I have my strengths and weaknesses. I am an introvert, a good listener, an authentic being, and I’m always looking for opportunities to learn something new. These are just a few of the many things that make me who I am. We are all works in progress, therefore, we should at least be working on something to better ourselves; as a result, I am currently working on my public speaking skills.

Occasionally, I enjoy watching movies and series, listening to music (especially Kenyan music), reading, writing, cooking, baking, and lastly hanging out with my friends.

I have high hopes for a successful future for myself and I am willing to put in the work and learn. I’m Kenyan, therefore, I am highly inspired by Kenyans making it to the ‘big’ spaces. Seeing them there opens a huge realm of possibilities for me to continue working towards.

What is your ultimate life goal?

My ultimate life goal is to live authentically. I would like to live my life truthfully to me; to create my own path. I would like to make decisions based on what I want and go through life with moderate external and societal influence.

Describe yourself in three words.

Thinker

Open-minded

Self-improver

What inspires you, Tori?

One thing about me is that I am always inspired. I find inspiration in the smallest of things, so a lot of things inspire me. However, few things stand out in that pool of inspiration. Firstly, the excitement and hope of a good future. I have tuned my mind to associate my future with positivity and success. I have my goals but the future still remains unknown, regardless, I believe I am going to make it and just that belief inspires me.

As mentioned earlier, seeing, hearing, watching, and reading about people’s success immensely inspires me, especially if I can see how they worked and are now successful. That just shows me that all this work I am putting in will lead to success.

What is Tori’s Room and how did it come about?

The original idea for Tori’s Room was for it to be a simple blog where I could just drop ideas and give advice. However, as I continued with it, I wanted to give this platform a cause, a purpose.

That purpose is wellness; physical, mental, emotional, and interpersonal wellness. Therefore Tori’s Room is a wellness platform and brand. I would like to use this platform to firstly, put out content on self-care, personal development, and wellness. Secondly, I would like to use Tori’s Room to build a community of people who value and/or are curious about wellness.

What is your favorite thing about the blog?

My favorite thing about the blog is that it is a platform where I can express myself and practice what I am passionate about. I love that I get to write, give my opinion on certain topics, give advice, talk about wellness, build and engage with my audience, and be creative.

If I had to pick one thing that I consider my favorite about the blog, it would be the process of coming up with posts. I enjoy, the thinking process, developing ideas, writing, and editing. Most of the time I am done creating a post, I have this tingling sensation of excitement and hope that my audience will love it or at least learn from it.

What are your hopes for the brand?

Since the brand is rooted in a good cause which is wellness, I believe that the brand will elevate.

I hope that a day will come when people will find inspiration from Tori’s Room to practice self-care and take an interest in self-growth.

I hope that one day people will refer to torisroom.com for ideas, advice, and encouragement in wellness.

I hope to build a tight-knit community where we interact and talk about our experiences and new things we’re learning.

Lastly, I hope to often produce relevant content for my platforms which include Instagram and the website, and hopefully soon, TikTok.

How do you come up with content to write?

Having a cause that the blog is directed to makes it easier to come up with content because the scope is focused. Therefore, most of my content is inspired by common day-to-day activities and experiences.

In addition, I like writing about things I enjoy for example beauty and skincare which fortunately fall under wellness.

What is the best quality of your writing?

One of the best qualities of my writing style is that I write the way I would speak it. I write as if I am talking directly to my audience and that helps a great deal because I don’t overthink it; I just get to write my piece

You mentioned ‘your audience’. Who would you say is your audience?

I want my brand to speak to women who are open to learning about, understanding, and growing in self-care, personal development, and wellness.

How would you ensure that content is relevant to your target audience?

I come from a household with mostly women, most of the people in my life are women and I am a woman myself. Being that my target audience is women, I believe that I have ample exposure to the ‘woman’ experience to develop my thoughts, opinions, and insights.

One of my qualities as a person is that I am very curious about things and how/ why they work. I am passionate about wellness, I am continuously looking for answers and explanations for all things wellness.

Both of these help me to blend my opinions with facts to produce my blog posts.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

If I could have a superpower, I would prefer to have the ability to pause time. Sometimes things are moving too fast, if I had that ability, I would at least catch a small break amidst all the activities in our lives, you know what I mean?

What’s one thing on your “bucket list”?

I hope to feature on a real magazine cover one day.

What’s your favorite form of art?

Poems. Easy! I love reading poems because I feel like they are such a raw form of expression that is refreshing to me. I also like how most poems aren’t direct and leave a lot of room for self-interpretation.

What are your favorite music genres?

Rnb

Afrobeats

Kompa

Jazz

Amapiano

A lot? I know but I really couldn’t leave out any.

Are you more of a dog or cat person?

I like all animals but I prefer cats. They are just so cute and playful, I love them.

Any parting shot?

I am extremely grateful for the chance to own a blog, a platform. I am grateful for everyone who has stuck with me from the beginning and still does, for all those who are currently joining the wagon, and even for those who will join in the future.

I know the journey has been a bit shaky and right now I am still trying to learn and find my bearing around this. However, I am learning new things every day and intentionally evolving to be my best version to deliver the best. I am always thinking about and working on ways to improve the brand and engage my audience.

I can’t wait to grow this brand and my audience. Both have a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to see them grow.

Cheers to growing together!

With lots of love,

Tori
