In this era that we live in, patience is a diseased virtue. Ironically, it is one of the most important virtues that we need to possess in our lives. Patience according to google is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious, however, to me, patience is simply the ability to wait comfortably.
We are so used to getting everything fast these days. If you want food, order it on your phone and it is brought to your doorstep, you want to reach someone, call them, if you want to watch a movie, just go online and get it. It is really that easy. I know these are all advancements that we have worked for but there is an after-effect. The quickness in everything is affecting our lives and our expectations, but hey, that’s just my opinion. Hear me out though.
I understand that our general patience is not what patience used to be but we can deal with that. What I’m concerned about is patience with ourselves. How often are you mad at yourself? How often do you beat yourself up for something you can’t control?

I’m going to use myself as an example. I have big dreams and aspirations and when I do my calculations, there are so many things I should be accomplishing or should have completed. I get so stressed from the pressure I give myself and when I sit down to check myself, I wonder, ‘what is stressing me?’.
I can’t seem to wait for the future when I will have achieved everything. I tend to feel like what I am doing now is irrelevant and it doesn’t feel like it is adding up. However, I was the same person who chose to do what I am doing now so if it made sense back then, I should be happy and comfortable on the journey toward my dream.

Waiting on yourself should be something we should be doing effortlessly. It’s not easy, I know. The world is fast-paced and waits for no one. People are becoming pros in their field, people are winning awards, and people are changing the world…with exposure to all this, it’s easy to feel like you are not doing enough.
This affects quite a number of people and what we need to do is to take it easy. We all have goals that we want to achieve and we should enjoy the journey toward them. We should understand that we are not competing with anyone and everything will come in its own time. It is your life at the end of the day so just take a step back, recollect then move at your own pace. Be patient.
Just wait on yourself. Keep that in mind.
